So, this arrived today. If you guessed this was the only railroad stock with a moose on it you be wrong. Bangor & Aroostook also issued an earlier stock with a different moose!

I got a new batch in last week and just finished scanning them. We'll start with another moose -- but this one looks seriously underfed.

Wow, that book is amazing! I have one of these certificates, serial #3283 -- did it come out of your book?

Got another batch of beauties last week and I think I have a new favorite. The New York Bank Note Company printed this stock certificate for the Raritan River Railroad, circa 1895. Apparently less than 10 were ever issued, if any. The design is outstanding, with great typography and all manner of ornamentation. It also features a very fancy frame and two great vignettes. Look close and you'll notice the foremast of the ship extends past the frame, giving a dynamic appearance. Look even closer and you can find microprinting on the little flag; "USM" indicating it was a US Mail vessel.

And as a capper, the back side also sports a wonderfully engraved frame. You see this often on railroad bonds, but almost never on stocks; no company wanted to waste money dressing up purely functional space.

So glad to add this to my collection!
