GregAlex Pillar of the Community United States 824 Posts	Posted 12/20/2021 01:05 am Here's a fairly modern certificate for the Great Northern Railway (issued 1964). The frame is quite ornate and it has a nice portrait of railroad baron John J. Hill, nicknamed "The Empire Builder" -- which not coincidentally is the name of the Amtrak line that currently runs along some of the former Great Northern tracks. Looks like it was probably a tourist trolley that took visitors up to the top for a magnificent view. In Los Angeles there was a similar line that went up to Mt. Lowe. Report this Post to the Staff
