Wow! That is so cool! That's the first set of American Bank Note certificates that I've seen in its original book form. How did you come across it?

Found them online - - They are from an old railroader's estate. I have a couple more. One actually has an ABN Co. stamp/sticker on the inside cover. I'll post the others soon.

That is a fantastic find -- thanks so much for posting it. I really like the ABNC label! Interestingly, there is a representative example shown on the Coxrail database for this scrip certificate. It is serial number #502 -- so it came out of your book! https://www.coxrail.com/database/Fi...AL-662d-O-50

Actually I believe that is the 'white paper' version of this scrip certificate. I don't think he has any scanned photos of the 'pink paper', which is what my book is. They are also for exchange prior to Dec 31, 1902 instead of Nov 1901. I'll have to get a scan for him. I also noticed he doesn't have a rarity logged either, so that's interesting. Might be rather scarce as well. But now I have a whole book of them, so maybe not anymore.

Quote: Here's another one. This one is dated 1902 with some partially signed by the Treasurer and hole canceled. The others remain unissued and in perfect condition. The paper is light pink and has an ABNCo stamp on the front cover. Excellent!

My latest acquisition -- the Tunnel Railroad of St. Louis. I haven't seen this nice locomotive vignette before.

I'm new to the CCF, been learning a lot about coins, then saw this. I bought a couple at an Estate sale, know nothing about collecting them, or their value, I probably way over paid, but I got them because I thought they were amazing and beautiful. Just thought I'd share, and hope to hear anything anyone has to say about them that could help educate myself on them. Thanks

Can anyone give me an idea what these are valued at? You can see the price I paid fo them. Did I lose money? It's ok if I did, as I said I really liked them and will keep them just for that reason, but having an idea of worth, will determine if I ever buy more. Thanks

The first a third one might actually be fairly scarce. I can't find them at all on here: https://www.coxrail.com/It's very comprehensive and might very well be a new type that hasn't been cataloged yet.

I was about to say the same thing, but Wheatback beat me to it. The South St. Louis Rwy is not known in the Coxrail database, which is a *huge* list (nearly 24,000 different varieties of certificates). That might be a significant find worth $200+. The Nashville & North-Western RR is a known railroad but has no known stock certificates. It's also very attractive and could also potentially run $200 retail. With stocks it's hard to gauge value -- it depends on whether there is a hungry buyer or two. But you definitely have two very nice finds there and you did not overpay. The Chicago & Alton is a less often seen variety, but it still sells on ebay in the $15-20 range. Overall, you did well. I wonder if you'd be willing to let me submit these to Terry Cox (Coxrail) to see what he has to say?
