I decided to put my fluid to the ultimate test. How confident am I in VERDI-GONE™? How about using it on my personal EF-AU 1909S VDB Lincoln! I got this coin from my Grandfather. It was stored in an old Whitman folder for some 40 years.

Initial:

Green-Copper-Corrosion---Chemistry

Green-Copper-Corrosion---Chemistry

I used a 50% solution of VERDI-GONE™. After just 10 minutes, you can see it starting to work:

Green-Copper-Corrosion---Chemistry

A fresh install of 50% solution and 40 minutes total time:

Excuse me? That was a pretty cheap shot to suggest.

1) I would never use such a product on any of my coins especially my 09S VDB.
2) I am an honest person. What you see is exactly what I did, no more, no less.

Gutsy, but an improvement, especially if it reduces the possibility of further damage.
I like the results. Just for fun, that looks like obverse die #1.

Kurt - I couldn't stand looking at the verdigris any more! I used VERDI-GONE™ on enough Lincolns now to know I wouldn't damage the coin.....when used properly....note the minimal exposure. And yes, it's a #1....good eye!

Steamwalker - I've been thinking about that for a long time.

What, suggest that it took guts?

I wouldn't know why not. I would think it would give it a more even color.

Look, you cleaned a coin. You even admitted it. I'm betting if it's sent to TPG, it will come back altered surfaces.

Now I don't have a problem with properly cleaned coins. Virtually 100% of ancients have been cleaned. It's just that it strikes me as odd that you find it acceptable to subject a coin to one kind of non-circulation chemical treatment in an attempt to improve its appearance, but bristle at the suggestion of a different kind of non-circulation chemical treatment in an attempt to improve its appearance.

At no point did I wish to imply anything dishonest. We have NCC doing the same thing, and how about shipwreck coins that have been subjected to all sorts of treatment. As long as they are only improving the appearance of what's left, and not doing stuff like engraving new detail,I don't have a problem with it. I don't even have a problem with damage repair like filled holes, and long as the coin is sold as having been repaired.

He said he couldn't remember the grade exactly but he thought VF30, he submits a LOT of coins. The main thing he did recall was that it holdered....that's mostly what I cared about. It makes for solid validation that VERDI-GONE™ is safe and effective when used properly.

Bad, have been off the site this summer so have not kept up with your efforts until now. I am amazed with your results. Are you going to sell Verdi-Gone? If so, how do I get some and what is the price?

Thx for a great effort, Jim
