2000 Wide AM- Obverse Finish

This is one of my 2000 Wide AM's

What caused the different finish sections on the Obverse of this coin?

*Even with this Obverse finish, its a nice looking coin especially on the Reverse.*

It has been subjected to some sort of chemical that has caused the copper to change color. Exactly what that chemical is, I am not sure but it would be classified as corrosion.
