Obv: Crowned emperor facing, below his nose, I think is an over-strike. I see a laying X or K
Legend: in Greek?
Rev: A large M, also with over-strike traces.

Mass: 4.86 gram
Diameter: 26x20mm

Any ideas?

Ron's the expert, but I think this one may be Arab-byzantine. It looks extra crude, and the legends look unusually sloppy.

The host coin may have been a Maurice Tiberius issue.
I will always to Rons knowledge on these though.

It looks like it may have started out as a Maurice Tiberius, as indicated by the three letters TIB visible on the obverse. Along with the regnal date 8 (589-90 AD), however either this was a very poor strike or it was overstruck to a later emperor. Hard to say without having the coin in hand.
