I can't explain why this particular counterstamp intrigues me as much as it does. think it's because I'm hopeful that there is some information on it out there that will breathe some life into it.
I've done some looking online for the FG or GF hallmark and have come up empty. Found one that was visually similar but wrong initials. I agree that the 39 is probably the year the stamp was set. The 9 or 6 might be a user identification or possibly month. Who knows.
What are some good resources out there that you all would recommend for researching this kind of stuff. Are there any books that every counterstamp researcher can't do without or is everything you need readily available online? Thanks in advance.
