Wow - some tremendous coins being added! And thanks @nickelsearcher for the Panama-Pacific additions. I hadn't seen those before.

Quote: I suggest that 5/06 can be used as a catch up day for anyone who missed the original day for posing their coin.
If agreed ... I'll use the day to share my personal favorite from my MS classic silver type set ... which was not shown on it's day. So here we are .... This is without a doubt the most visually stunning eye appeal coin in my MS set ... the brilliant luster glows from across the room and I believe that even at a lofty MS67 opinion it is under graded. 1937 Battle of Antietam Anniversary Half Dollar - PCGS MS67/CAC I've visited the Antietam battle field a few times ... quite the sobering place to walk and read the history formed there on September 17, 1862 ... the date memorialized as well on the coins reverse. I took the following photo of the Burnside Bridge from the approximate perspective of Willam Marks Simpson engraving on the coin: Enjoy

Exceptional CSC. The type of coin that exhibits so much beauty that it gives us the hope of finding more near perfection. A modern 70 is nothing compared to that.
My only question is, why didn't you get a weed hog and clean out all those bushes before taking the photo of the bridge?
Kidding aside, connecting the coin to the place is a sobering experience. We understand why they are truly commemorative.
Thanks, as always, Nickelsearcher.

You bet. And a great example of the Antietam coin - the reverse is one of the best.

I'm confused. Why is today a catch-up day, if it's supposed to be the Police Memorial day?

Quote: I'm confused. Why is today a catch-up day, if it's supposed to be the Police Memorial day? We discovered back on page 48 that today's entry was a duplicate. Following up on nickelsearcher's so-called dollars from the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, I have only one (in acceptable condition for display purposes) but it's my favorite from the series.

Thanks for the kind words on my Antietam ... much appreciated. @ Alpha ... appears by your photos to be a lovely AU HK-400 official medal ... wonderful example indeed of this treasured SCD series. Thank you for sharing it with us.

nickelsearcher, that's one amazing 1937 Battle of Antietam Anniversary Half Dollar! I still have spots in my eyes. Thanks for sharing (and the pic of the actual bridge was a nice touch).

Although no reference appears on he coin, today's example was actually authorized and produced to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Providence, RI ... and produced at all 3 US Mints. Such were the collector abuses during he 'commemorative craze' era. 1936 Rhode Island (Providence) Tercentenary Half Dollar - PCGS VF20 Enjoy
