Quote: Great Britain 1p 1971 - this and the 2p of the same year are now the oldest coins in circulation in the UK! Very interesting!

1965 Scottish shilling: Distinctive English and Scottish shillings were issued from 1937 to 1966 (and in the 1970 proof set), but both types were legal tender throughout the UK. The 1965 Scottish shilling is one of those scarce coins that isn't valuable: only around 2 million were minted, but owing to the coin collecting boom in the years leading up to Decimalization, vast numbers were saved in Uncirculated condition at the time. Shillings survived 'D-Day' as 5p pieces, but were withdrawn in 1990 when the new smaller 5p was introduced.

CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
