I'm not seeing a doubled die. Might be MD.

I think it might just be reflection from the coin. Sometimes those shinny ones can be stinkers to see what's truly, if anything, is going on.

I see some notches, so I understand why you would ask, but it is MD.

Good to know and yes...very shiny! LOL!! There is massive amounts of MD going on in all of these from all 3 mints. I got rolls from Philly the other day when they did the unveiling and then Denver and SanFran bags came in today. Philadelphia bag should be here on Monday.

You need to remove some of the light. I had to block off all but the one LED at the 12k position and put a filter on that one. Good luck. The light on scopes have a big learning curve. John1

Note the US on TRUST. You can see how the MD reduced the size of this device. So it is Machine Doubling.

John1: thanks for the heads up! It is definitely different using a scope vs the macro lens. I will keep playing with it. A different question: Can you have Machine Doubling and die doubling on the same coin?

Yes. Just a a normal coin and show MD, a doubled die can show MD. It is the same event that causes the issue. (Machine alteration) But on a doubled die the doubling is on the coin, and then can be altered after the strike: Note the arrows on the last image. MD

Quote:Can you have Machine Doubling and die doubling on the same coin? Yes, that can happen. I'm sure someone on here has an example of that happening, I can't seem to find a pic. Edit: Coop has one ^
