Horus is one of the most ancient Egyptian deities and is one of the most important gods in the Egyptian pantheon. This web page has a much better easy to read overview of the eye of horus and the origins of horus https://egyptian-history.com/blogs/...eye-of-horus

@captainmandrake1 @Kopper Ken Thanks for replying. I like the ultra-high relief, creating a greater 3D effect on the designs and enhanced visual depth for the background field combined with the antique finish that has a polished finish that gives the coin the appearance of a silver piece that is from the past. These type of coins dont usually look all that great with stock photos either so they go unnoticed and many miss out on some of these under the radar modern finds.

Roman Republic Denarius 63. B.C.
Minted by the Moneyer Lucius Cassius Longinus, brother of the Cassius who assassinated Julius Caesar.
Obverse is the Vestal Virgin, protectress of Rome, who was served by the six vestal virgin priestesses. If a priestess violated the oath of chastity the punishment was to be buried alive!!! This actually occurred in 115-113 B.C. when a few of the priestesses and their lovers were put to death!

Here's a circulating 100 Lire coin from Italy; it was issued from 1955 to 1989 - the coin shown is dated "1972.". It was struck on an acmonital planchet, which is a stainless steel alloy comprised, primarily, of iron, but also of (in decreasing percentage, by weight): chromium, silicium, magnesium, carbon, sulfur and phosphorus.

The obverse design presents a left-facing female head-and-neck portrait with a laurel wreath on her head. The inscriptions "REPUBLICA" and "ITALIANO" ("ITALIAN REPUBLIC") encircle the portrait at the rim. Giuseppe Romagnoli was the coin's designer, Pietro Giampaoli was its engraver. Their surnames appear below the portrait.

The coin's reverse design depicts the mythological goddess Minerva holding an upright spear in her left hand while holding a branch in a live olive tree in her right. Minerva was a Roman goddess of multiple things, with War (note helmet and spear) and wisdom among them; she is known for fighting on the side of justice. The olive tree is representative of peace and friendship. Together, the elements mirror the symbolism of the heraldic eagle (based on the US Great Seal) seen on many US coins. The eagle holds arrows in its left talon and olive branches in its right. The US design symbolizes a desire for peace, but a willingness to fight to defend Liberty.

The "R" seen in the field to the right of Minerva (viewer's persepctive) is the coin's mintmark - it denotes the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome. (Translation: State Printing Institute and Mint). To the left of Minerva is seen the coin's denomination - L(ire) 100.
