This is hard for me to identify, it looks like it is a piece of a coin, can you help me identify it please?

G'dfay, I can't help with identification, but early hammered coins (before minting was done with machines) are often a bit irregular in shape. Apart from ordinary wear, it was common for coins to be clipped, or filed, to remove some of the precious metal.
So, irregular shapes like this one are common in very old coins.
Looks like there's quite a story waiting to be told by your coin.

It's certainly mediaeval Islamic. Stylistically, it looks similar to coins I have from the Seljuqs of Rum, sometime around 1200 to 1250 AD; you can see Seljuq coins on this page; the examples of Kayka'us II seem closest in style to yours.
