Not sure on the "woody" aspect--could be roller lines.

Rolling lines. If he would look at the tops of the devices, he would see where the line was worn off the devices. On a woody, coin wear does not remove the issue because the mixture is not a surface area, but all the way through the planchet/coin.

I agree it's roller lines Stonebone. Here's a pic showing the difference between the two. I hate to disagree with Coop (he knows more about coins than most of us will ever know), but I think you deserve another opinion on this one.

While Woody's are usually deeper in the planchet/coin, I do not believe the affected area goes all the way through on every one. If it did, every coin made from the mix would be a two-sided Woody.
