Sacagawea Dollar Question - Coin Community Forum

jmgi Valued Member United States 160 Posts	Posted 03/24/2018 8:07 pm Have always liked the Sacagawea designs despite the edge lettering which started in 2009, so I have been thinking of putting a set together lately, however, I have some concerns about the surface preservation in storage, considering the metallic composition. Since I don't currently have any Sac's in my collection, was wondering if those of you who have had them for years, could comment on how they have held up in long term storage. Do they change color or develop spots, etc.? Report this Post to the Staff

I put them in a CAPS album and so far, so good. But the album was expensive. I will try and get some pictures of it to post soon. Report this Post to the Staff

Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 03/26/2018 3:24 pm I put a couple aside in 2000, stored in a box and exposed to humidity (lived in Georgia) as well as seasonal heat and cold. They held up just fine, although one got a little darker than I remember it being originally. Report this Post to the Staff
Bret Pillar of the Community United States 1913 Posts	Posted 04/16/2018 10:18 pm I use the same method as praetorian2000. Most of mine come directly from sealed proof or mint sets. I put them in air tites and they look just the same as when I took them out of the OGP. Use lint free cotton gloves when handling them and don't breathe during the transfer process.
