I am afraid that looks like a hit! it's one spot that is often seen getting nicks and dings and resembling the Dbl. Ear your second picture shows it best where the hit took place with scraped and flattened lower ear lobe.keep the search going you got the eye for it And BTW you do a nice job with your photography.
Note the mark is incuse. It has been pushed into the ear. Not raised above the lobe. Take a look at the light to dark color on the doubled ear. Note how it fades to dark twice? That is because the contour of the coin is there showing both hubbings. Not look back at you coin, you see the normal lobe, but the area in question is all the same color. Do you know why? It is because that area is flat. Flat doesn't show a fade from light to dark color change. So your coin was damaged. sorry
Even though it is fresh out of a new box, business strike coins are not treated gently at the mint. They come out of the presses at several hundred per minute, and dump down into a hopper. With hundreds of coins bumping into each other, some are going to get damaged. Check on youtube for videos showing the minting process, and you will see what I mean.
