Hey everybody. I'm new to this forum, I would request you to stay with me. I have a well worn Trade dollar which I found in granny's box. well weighted by 27 gram instead of 27.22 grams and edges also got worn enough. But I persume its well fitted counterfeit and cant be real one. But for learning I am giving picture for your comments.

to CCF. This one is easy to spot out b/c Trade dollars weren't minted in 1885.

Actually, five 1885 proofs were minted. In any event, this clearly is a fake, owing to the dull grey finish.

The coin is not a proof as the strike is poor. Note the denticles on the obverse are not prominent. I am not seeing a lot of wear on the coin more of lack of details in the devices that is typical with counterfiets. If the coin was geniune, it would be worth over a million dollars.

Below is one of the 1885 proof Trade dollars graded PR63+ by PCGS.

When compared to a genuine proof your counterfeit is a poor copy as there are many things that do not match the genuine example.

The "granny's box" part really throws me off. These things cost $1.15 with free shipping.
