1913, I would pull the copper out and sell them on ebay. If you are going through by date anyway, then you might as well get the small profit for the copper cents.

I went and picked up my first box of cents today. The first bank I went to was my normal bank, and was really busy. Was waiting forever for them to get the box, got tired of waiting and left. Went down the road to another bank, and the lady looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for a box. She asked if I was a business. When I told here no, she had to go ask someone if she could give me a box. I guess their are not too many roll hunters around here. Might be a good thing when I start doing halfs. I've gone through ten rolls so far, and got 2 wheats. My plan is to pull all the copper, and start putting together a couple folders of reds.
Rest in Peace

I recently read in the esylum that the Mint has informed Jarden, the supplier of the copper plated zinc cent planchets, they will not be renewing their contract when it runs out September 30th. It looks like the steel cent is getting close. Keeping the copper cents might be a good idea.

Interesting! It But something bothers me. Jarden makes the copper plated steel planchets for Canada; one would think we should just start using those. Unless the contract explicitly states zinc and a new one for the steel will have to be negotiated. Maybe there is another vendor I am not aware of?

The write up in the esylum went on the say with a drop in 3/4 of their business, layoffs are expected at Jarden.

Ouch!

It will be interesting to see who, if anyone, becomes the new cent planchet vendor.

Wow! That's a nice number of wheats for 500 rolls! That's a wheat in every 3.125 rolls! Not bad.
