This was 'the' mid-grade Barber half that officially hooked me. Mike's advised "Let the underbidder determine the price of this one." And that's what I did. Still looking at this coin about 15 years later... Posted already on the GTG thread.

Last 1895, a little nicky, quite the perfect cameo, but still a tough to find "S" mint, semi-key with original surfaces in XF - and without breaking the budget

That is a great '96-S @TM and is one of the Barber quarters that I don't have. Instead, here is my '96-O:

Going to save some for the grading thread. The monotony is neither easy to obtain or inexpensive. Condition rarity + demand = $$$

Very nice examples so far - I'm enjoying all the coins and especially the circulation cameo examples shown by Two Tone. My Barbers are 'limited' to lowball half dollars. This coin was a workhorse of the economy in the day and while the majority of the surviving population likely grades VG or lower, finding a true certifiable lowball is quite a challenge in itself. I'll share a few to give you a sense: 1897 Barber half dollar - PCGS FR02 1897-O Barber half dollar - PCGS PO01 1897-S Barber half dollar - PCGS PO01
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art
