I remember seeing a 54 $20.00 note with the same low number on it. In the mid 60's my brother and I each got a $100.00 to buy school supplies and cloths for the coming school year. In change my brother got a 20.00 with all 0's and the 6 on the end

Apologies if this is considered too off-topic. But I am curious.
According to the BoC's 2017 annual report 86% of banknotes in circulation are polymer (up from 84% in 2016). I am wondering how many (total or percentage wise) are from the Frontier series and how many are still from the Journey series. I couldn't find data about the share of ''old'' and ''new'' polymer series. So, how's the situation in the wild?
I'm living in the Eurozone. The ECB releases data of numbers of series 1 and Europe Series (aka series 2) Euro banknotes in circulation. While there are still 16,5% of series one €5 notes in circulation I haven't seen one in at least two years. Similarly, 14,1% of series one €10 notes and 23,2% of series one €20 notes are still out there. Yet, I haven't seen one of these for several months now. So, I'm just curious how is it in Canada with Frontier/Journey series -- particularly the $5, $10 and $20 notes. How rare are the Journey notes?

Quote: According to the BoC's 2017 annual report 86% of banknotes in circulation are polymer (up from 84% in 2016). Then I would assume that 14% of our banknotes are paper (and that at least 95% of those are Journey). I would bet that a large portion of those will be Journey $50 & $100 notes in people's SDB (another reason I shy away from high denominations). When I was searching for Journey $20 I would get the very odd "Bird" (prior series) note so I wouldn't imagine there are many of those out there now (but if there are they'll be $1000 & $100 & what collectors have). I have taken out bundles from the bank on (100 X $20 notes) and I may get 1 Journey every 2-3 months. I just put back one recently. I would say that 99% of the time that Journey $20 will be from a 10,000,000 run of notes and not a keeper. There will be a lot of people who will keep high grade (UNC or better) regular prefixes which book only marginally over face (& have low demand). Again, I would bet that a lot of your original series one Euros will be higher denominations (100, 200 & 500) stashed in people's SDB. The lower denominations may be what travellers/collectors have kept.

I guess that would be considered a binary...but not a true binary which would be 0's & 1's.

I was going to the post office to mail out a banknote I sold on ebay and asked my wife if she could lend me a toonie. She didn't have it so she gave me this. I asked if she checked the serial number (& of course she answered that she did) so when I turned it over and found this # I was a bit surprised (& of course she confessed that she thought she checked it).
