During the 50 States series of quarters back in the day, they came out with some colorized quarters. They looked terrible and non collectors thought they would be a neat thing to collect along with the Avon bottles. But I was working the other day with my PS program and made a colorized proof quarter.

Well it was kind of cheezy so I decided to really work harder on one.

Well in the past I've made some unique coins with the same program. You might remember them if youve been around around for a few years:

On the last image, when you look at it. Let your eyes see 6 columns instead of five and it draws you into the screen.

That's pretty cool Coop! I remember seeing those colorized Quarters. Sometimes, you'll end up finding them in circulation.

They were out there, but not a lot of interest in then. Most felt it was a scam. The State Quarters were the hot item then. Now moats are spent.

They certainly are eye catching.

The first colorized (and in this case I use the term VERY loosely) coin that I remember were quarters from the early 1960's.
Some people were painting a red skull cap on quarters.
Why?
It made Washington look like the Pope.
Why do that?
Because Kennedy was running for and became President.
He was the first Catholic to get elected to that office.

I saw a colorized Walking Liberty in a coin shop once. It was done well, but I thought that it totally ruined the beauty of the coin.
