It's an older coin, I'm not seeing a RPM (could be too faded to see), but the S is much farther to the right than my other 1953 S pennies. Is this pretty common? Is it worth collecting?

Mint marks were added to working dies by hand until 1989. Their target area was below the date and to the right of the bust, so they could be almost anywhere, or upside-down, or sideways.

All the mint marks until 1990 were hand punched. There is no certain location for the mint mark except this.
1. Below the date.
2. Right of the bust.
3. Left of the rim.
So if they are in that area, they are OK.

with all of the above.

From what I recall, hand punching MMs stopped completely by 1990 for cents and nickels. It stopped by 1991 for other denominations.

Yep, the locations of the mint marks didn't really matter, as long as it wasn't touching the rim or bust. It's strange isn't it?
