Is It A Good Idea To Clean Silver With Acetone?

cowgirlcpa Valued Member United States 51 Posts	Posted 05/25/2018 09:09 am I have a few old silver dollars and some other silver change and was wondering if this would hurt the finish? Also, I doubt if any of it is worth much more than face value but, I don't want to risk devaluing it either. According to the youtube guy, it will not devalue the coins but, I wanted to ask the forum, first! Your opinion will be much appreciated! Report this Post to the Staff

While a bath in pure acetone will most likely not damage your coins, we advise against cleaning them in virtually all cases. Maybe post a pic of a couple items and we can weigh in with advice specific to your coins rather than generic advice?
