Not exactly sure what you're asking. How about full pics of both sides to start.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you please elaborate on that?

I just seeing die wear around bust area. Die flow lines on the field. probably LDS at the times your quarter was struck.

So it looks like a consistent spaced outline all the way around the washington head. You can almost see a definite outline under his chin down his neck, around nose and forehead and then around the hair knot and ribbon. Is this from die wear?

They did on cents years ago. I call it a trench around the bust other call it channeling. Guess what it was about the same time also. They did it to separate and enhance the busts edge. Mike Diamond has another name for them: Retouching of the design elements.http://www.error-ref.com/retouching...gn-elements/

Great article and pictures! Yes They have the Washington quarter in there with the same "channeling" in the article. Thanks Coop! And mine is also like theirs, no channeling at bottom of bust.

Hi Coop, Just trying to understand this perfectly, so the trench or channeling was done on the die. The coin then has a raised area around the bust? This confuses me since it looks like the area around the bust is down not raised. You can tell by the light angle on all the pictures.

It was done to the working hub which then went on to create the working dies that strike coins showing this anomaly
