It's Post Strike Damage. The hit caused the metal to get pushed over and flattened.

Definitely a vending machine damaged coin. Why? Location of the damage. Coin wrapper damage usually happens on the 2nd or 3rd digits on cents. Vending machine damage alters the digits parallel to the rim.
