Exactly Mark. Although I still keep the crappy ones (the ones in very crappy condition) in my Wheat cent bag still.
Errers and Varietys.

Never could see any purpose in plating them. If for a higher price when selling, possibly, but then why put them back in change?

Yes. I also like the 1944 Belgium 2 Francs struck at Philadelphia on the same planchets.

"Do you like steel cents?"
Yes, when they are dated 1944.

I knew I had one somewhere. My wife found it between the sofa cushions. Can you believe that?

I'd like to get some high grade ones. Always thought they were neat. Have a few hundred circulated ones laying around

One of my favorite childhood numismatic memories is our backdoor neighbors had a large pickle jar, like a deli size one, full of 1943 cents, and they were kept in Quaker State motor oil. The oil would darken over a few years my friend's Dad would say, and they would then 'change the oil.' It sat up on the mantle in their den.

That's a good story! Quote: 'change the oil.' That's funny!! I remember my dad telling me to change the oil in my hair!

The pics in MS condition are nice! I have a couple in decent shape, but may try to get an uncirculated one now. I like the steel cent because it is unique and the history behind the rationale for it. It reminds me of the Canadian 1942-43 tombac five cent coins, which didn't hold up too well either.
