Sigismund the Old, Lithuanian half-groat. Rare coin with corrected date, 1516 in catalogues (in our book too), but there are many unanswered questions about this coin.

Very interesting coins! Indeed that first date is unusual. Does not look like 6 over 5. Maybe the diemaker first punched the 6 upside down as 9, making it 1516/19?
I also liked the unusual 7 from yesterday, which is more like the style of 7 before 1500.

For me, 1516 is the only date for Sigismund I as King of Poland that I am missing, so I am out for today.

Seems as good of a guess as any.
