We haven't had a gold coin pop up in this thread for a while, but here is my coin for today: a Goldgulden from the German Electorate of Pfalz (Bacharach mint) that can be dated to AD 1464. It is attributed as Felke 1395 and Friedberg 1978.   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

We are now entering a timeframe when the Hungarian Denars can help us continue our journey. Here is one that can be dated to AD 1463:   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

I have a gap in my OFEY collection and can't move this thread forward. Hopefully @eddiediz will pop in and push us back through 1462 and 1461.

(Also took pics of 2017, 2016, and 2012 coins. 2019 too, but that one was boring - just a circulating coin from my country. Already have 2018 and, IIRC, 2013. Hadn't decided what to choose for 2015 and 2014 yet.) |

1461 C-I Hungarian Denar under King Matthias Corvinus;Huszar 702,Unger 554c,Pohl 202-2. It is double struck.  1461 h-S Hungarian Denar under King Matthias Corvinus with a point over the S in the mint mark;Huszar 702,Unger 554g,Pohl 202-5.  This is my last one until 1455. |

If not Hungary, are there others? As part of my continuing education, I see that from early 1470s back to late 1450s the Saxony horngroschen and Wiener Neustadt coins are most accessible. It looks like the early 1450s are a relative wasteland, then the area around Cologne (Bacharach, Bingen, Koblenz, Mainz, Riel) dominates 1425-1450, both weisspfennigs and florins. The weisspfennigs would fit one of my colleting themes (thanks to St. Peter), but it looks like we never get back that far. |

I changed the title to reflect what we will need tomorrow... 1460 C. E. (A. H. 864). Today is technically still 1461, so you can post it if you got it. If you happen to have a 1460 for tomorrow, I need to ask, "Where were you five minutes ago? The fourth edition could have used it!"  Seriously, wait until after midnight (forum time) and post it here. |

If not Hungary, are there others? As far as I can tell, @louie had two, neither of which was from Groningen. If you have a lot of money to spare, this appears to really be 1460 (Koln goldgulden), though I don't actually have the catalog to confirm. EDIT: would you trust Numismall not to have a fake? If real, this coin should be eligible for 1460. EDIT 2: an ebay example of the same type. TL/DR: a Vietnamese rebel issue supposedly minted from October 1459 to June 1460. Edited by january1may
