Hi! Everyone,
I found this today while coin hunting. The mintmark look like "D" underneath the S. What do you guys think of it? As I couldn't match it with any RPM or OMM on VV or CC. Just give me your opinion, or maybe its just me "Illusionate".

The S mint mark puncheons of that era suffered from defects, may being used for various years and other denominations too. The posts and area inside the upper and lower curves would chip off the tools causing a faulty impression on the die. Posts and the area on the die also suffered from a weakness that would form die chips and even full breaks as seen in the clear/filled S's of 79-81 coins known as Type 1 & 2.

According to Wexler's site, the 1981 is still a "possibility" but it needs more study before it can be confirmed.

Looks like a damaged mint mark punch issue.
