Came across this nickel today - the front and back has the same image of the Monticello building. Is this an error?

@silverant, virtually all of these are so-called Magician's coins. There should be a seam on the edge or along one of the rims.

yes, the upside down image is the side with the second obverse added. it is 100% impossible for this to have happened at the mint.

I looked very closely and didn't see a seam on the rim or edge. Silverwolf, can you explain why you believe the 2nd image was the one that was added? I'm trying to understand and don't see anything different on that image versus the first one.

It is subtle on this one, but look at the difference in distance between the design elements and the rim for both sides. Normally, it is much easier to see.

It's a Magicians coin, which is Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint).

That is the better one to have. Why? Because heads is more often called for a coin toss.

Sounds like a married man?
There is only two outcomes when you argue with your wife.
1. Either your wrong.
2. Or She is right.

Just the two ways it ends.

I zoomed in on the edge and you're right - there is a gap and some unevenness throughout. So this coin is virtually worthless?

As a coin, it is only worth five cents. However, as a collectible, it has a few dollars value as @Tunnioc noted. I'd save it in a 2x2.
