I'm mostly retired but still buy/sell junk and antiques. Got a phone call from a guy that needed cash and wanted to sell some gold coins. When I got there he had 4 $10 gold pieces. At the time gold was somewhere around $1200 per troy ounce. In the fairly small town I live in the only places to sell are pawn shops & we buy gold places both of which only pay 50-75% of spot. I verified the cons were real & told the guy his best bet would be to sell in Atlanta(about 2 hrs away). I even gave him a couple places there he could sell for 95% of spot. Instead he offered the lot to me for $2000 so I bought them. I sold one for $500 to the fellow collector that told the guy to call me, kept one for my 7070, & sold 2 for spot a couple weeks later to a guy I know that owns a chain of bars when he came in town to check on the one here.
