Quote: If that's the case, then their 110k mintage limit shown on the website for the Pride of Two Nations set would not be correct. True. It was a total mintage limit. The product limit was 100k.

Quote:If it is the same ASE as included in the Pride set, then a lot of us spent extra money on a Canadian bullion coin that we didn't really want. If it's the exact same that'll be twice in the last decade they have done that with a special ASE and their sales will suffer in the future just like they did last time.

Wow... that doesn't bode well. Really hoping it's a different MM. Or maybe they're going to release a few Po2N sets along with an Intaglio print.

That is a bit of a bummer. I still would have bought the set but still the main appeal was the ASE. Looks like the Pride set will be taking a big hit in value once more people realize another Enhanced RP ASE will be released.

Only if it's the exact same coin and if so they mint will get an ear full from a ton of people for not announcing that ahead of time. As long as theres some difference it won't hurt it

Someone mentioned on another thread about the reverse having a different design. He was referencing something the mint director said. So we shall see.

A different reverse would be awesome and increase the interest in them, but I am pretty sure he was just speculating. A different mint mark or even a difference in the finish should be enough. That said I don't think it's smart. I get their job is to make money and they're limited what they can do, but special ASEs stop being special if they're several times a year and either the mintage has to come way down or the interest will fall just like when they did too many of them to close a couple years ago.

Yes it was just speculation but the mint director was recently interviewed and he talked about how they're planning changes to the reverse to improve security. Some changes would be obvious, some security features would be noticable to people in the business, and some would be highly secretive.
In any case, just seemed like a good reason to throw out an unannounced silver eagle, but probably more likely they were excited with the interest in the other set and wanted to sell more with a different mint mark. We'll see eventually

I do hope they do go that route in the future, but I don't believe it will be anytime soon. Next year would be the absolute soonest if not longer as they generally don't make any changes quickly.

starts on the video above at 7:50ish, though as stated he was talking about the bullion version. Who knows if it will carry over to the coins.

Are there any legalities that would prevent the mint from minting and selling more of the exact same ASE that came in the Pride set?

Quote:Are there any legalities that would prevent the mint from minting and selling more of the exact same ASE that came in the Pride set? Nope. They re-released the 2012 S proof in a second set later in the year that they new was coming all along and didn't tell anyone until after the first sets sales were long over. As a result most people didn't really care about the 2013 set.
