Hello,I just started collecting coins.. and dont know a lot about , coin errors/defects... I have found a (2015 D shield penny) And I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Is it a error/defect,or was it purposely done?
What you have is a defaced cent,it's been sanded down smooth and it was done while in circulation and it will be labeled as PSD. (Post Strike Damage.)
And on the obverse you have the Zinc Core starting to expose do to the damage to the surface copper layer and it will just continue getting wort.
Finally you posted your question in a wrong thread, site MODs will move it to the appropriate thread for better attention.Good luck with your new hobby it is going to be fun!
