Quote: Is there a Waffle House in the area? If so, any luck there? used to be. we used to have an ihop, too. the ihop closed within the last year or two. the waffle house closed many years ago and hotels now occupy that area. I remember finding a little bit of coins a few times at the ihop, but not a lot. Quote: did somebody just chuck some change out there to see how far they would roll? i puzzle over this nearly every night. hard to explain & hard to understand the mentality or reasoning for tossing away coins. I don't understand it. I just grab it & go (after nabbing a picture). I've put together a nice little batch of metals with everyone's chucked change. I think I've demonstrated pretty clearly what anyone can do with found & saved-up cash & coins. I realize, of course, that maybe not everyone can do what I'm doing. I live in a place where chucked change seems to be constant. 30,000 people crammed onto a 4x2 mile island, a good number of those people obviously do not keep their change.

Quote: Nice finds on the change and chocolate croissant yes... that croissant was yummy. I just ate it, washed it down with a glass of milk. I intended to have it with a coffee, but today was a bit of a killer; the cat woke me up at 4am, just as I was drifting into deep sleep. it startled me awake. hard to go back to sleep, but I eventually did, although I didn't get enough restful sleep, which triggered a migraine upon being awakened again by the cat at 8:15am. aaaand the day just kind of went south from there. long story. still trying to recover, my day is far from over.

last night, on a limited search, I picked exactly $1 in change... three quarters, three nickels and a dime... no zincolns... it's been a good month, and there's still this week left in it...
a buddy in MI texted me the temperature up there yesterday... -27*, with wind chill... ouch... I hope everyone is staying warm, those temps are brutal...

it just keeps piling up. tonight I picked a very well-scattered $1.67 on an extended search night, the bulk of it was these five dimes and a nickel picked from a parking space at publix: see 'em all?

well, barring any major scores tonight & tomorrow night, the month of january provided a bit over $40 of street money, which is great. I don't have to work tomorrow so I can put in a full effort tonight. my paint job is ongoing, but I have the next 3 days off because of the incoming weather event. I've never seen a weather alert like this. check this out: Quote: Rapidly intensifying coastal cyclone will form east of the Carolinas over the next 18 hours. Meanwhile, an Arctic anticyclone will spill southward into the Great Plains. This setup will drive a powerful cold front through the Keys on Saturday, preceded by rounds of potent squalls, thunder, lightning, tornado activity and culminating in northerly gales (sustained 35 knots, gusting over 45 knots), heavy seas (significant wave heights will peak near 16 feet across the southeastern Gulf and the Straits of Florida, and as high as 8 feet at the Reef), extremely rough nearshore waters, and the coldest temperatures to impact the Keys since 2010. The wind chills will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s in the Upper Keys, and the mid to upper 30s in the Lower Keys. A Cold Weather Advisory and a Gale Warning will be required for the Florida Keys by tomorrow. Frostbite and hypothermia will be possible. The shallow waters on the bayside of the Keys will quickly respond to the Arctic air mass, with sea surface temperatures falling into the lower to mid 50s. Cold water (defined as 59F or below) triggers cold shock—an involuntary gasp reflex—which can lead to immediate inhalation of water and drowning. Do not risk being on or near the water this weekend! Warming centers will open Saturday afternoon and all live aboard mariners are encouraged to seek onshore safety by noon Saturday, January 31st. Power outages possible as well as travel disruptions, especially on the higher bridges. Astronomical high tides and a full moon may cause flooding in low lying areas and over-wash on US 1. If you don't have to drive, please stay off the roads and if you do have to travel, please exercise extreme caution wind chill in the florida keys?! wherever you are, if you're in the crosshairs of this storm system, be careful out there. this thing is gonna cause a lot of trouble. that weather bulletin mentions 2010; I remember that, we had overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 40s. it rarely gets that cold way down here, but you can be sure that I WILL be out & about checking on my street kitties. I don't think i'll be putzing around looking for street money saturday night or sunday night, though. i'll get out to feed the cats and head for home. still waiting on the cauldron.

We got a lot of snow Saturday, 6-8 inches depending on where I measured it. The wind was strong, explaining the variance. Most of it melted in the sun yesterday. Crazy!

I've had enough cold. 'cold' is not tropical. I want to get back to my regular routine. I've had to back off the past several nights because it's been too chilly to be out putzing around. I feed the cats & go home, no money hunting.
