Yesterday was one of those "8 PM miracles" days; my total of $1.43 was decent, but most of it happened well into the evening. It's a good thing I checked the humanities building when I did and found the 50 cents needed to push me over a dollar!

i have instances like that, occasionally, where a quarter or two makes a world of difference. achieving the dollar mark every night can be a difficult task.

i over-achieved last night. first night in a long time this has happened. my score-of-the-year happened back in april, it'll take some doing to top that $60 I found back then, but last night's pick is a solid score-of-the-year runner-up.

but before I spill the beans I must take you back to march 2021, or page 22 of this thread. on 3/14/2021 I posted pictures of a $20 bill I scored near a drive-up ATM kiosk where I had been feeding the black & white kitty. I still feed that kitty at the same bank, though I now feed him near the corner of the building instead of at the ATM. long story there by itself. anyway, that kitty is nearly always my first stop, as he was last night, and as I ride out of that parking lot I always-- always!-- have a look around that same ATM, as I did last night. I had just fed him & was heading out, with only a nickel in my pocket at that point, when I spotted this...

joy! joy! joy! chalk up another twenty to the black and white kitty! outstanding! sitting atop my bike looking down I could see it was a twenty, tho I wasn't wearing my glasses. I quickly hopped off the bike, set the empty Fancy Feast can on my ragged bike seat so I could nab pix. I didn't examine it, I just plucked it from the pavement and stuffed it into my pocket. i'll come back around to that.

i still had several cats to feed, so I blasted off. I could have skipped money hunting for the remainder of the night after scoring that twenty, but I pressed on. that twenty was a huge boost, restored my confidence in the enterprise. over the course of the next hour and a half I picked an additional eighty-nine cents.

later in the night I picked an unopened, undamaged bottle of Gatorade from a parking lot at a convenience store and I found a one-gallon jug of spring water in the Winn-Dixie parking lot:

those two items in my back pack made the back pack heavy. good thing I was on my way home by that point. I really didn't want to find anymore bottles of anything!

i returned to my apartment.. but before I finish the story I must take you back one more time, to 9/13/2023, just several days ago:

I found 55 cents and 5 peso from the Philippines in addition to a 5 pence coin

helder, do you play the daily four? is the universe telling you to play 5555?

yah, I was being cutesy, ribbing helder about playing the daily four because of those four fives, so when I dug that twenty out of my pocket for examination you can imagine my surprise:

do you see four fives?

WOW.

me too, Hondo.. I still haven't settled on what just yet.

I'm thinking I may wait until black friday. last year I had only about $100 when black friday sales unexpectedly appeared. this year I could have 3x that amount by the time black friday comes around.

Added another 23 cents to the pile. I would like to get a 1/10 ounce of platinum, as I have no platinum yet. A 1/4 should be ~ $250 plus the premium, I should stretch for that!!
