this thread is now 5 years & several days running.. I may have to reread this whole thing again... Quote: all I find are pennies that's what I find the most of nearly every night, at least some of them will be trashed or roadrashed.. despite my way-above average finds this year I still consider dollars to be a rare find & always a nice surprise, it never gets old .. i'll have to break it all down & do a year-end recap w/math & analysis & observations..

I've got time for it, Hondo; I read the ticket stub thread today after you gave it a big bump! good stuff! y'all have a look at this: last night I picked this nickel from a space in a parking lot directly in front of a laundromat. does it look to any of you to have 20 years of circulation wear? I don't think it has circulated for 20 years.. I think that coin is in great condition for 20, and for having been on the pavement for a short while; I'm surprised that it didn't get run over.

That's a nice one, MrPink! Someone must have done some couch digging or emptied out an old change jar. Their loss, your gain!

Right after Thanksgiving I went to our local Walmart near closing time. I noticed a wallet in a shopping cart in the parking lot. Because it looked brand new I figured someone had bought a new wallet and left it behind. I was wrong. It contained over $700 cash and no government ID. (see pic) There was some contact info and I called the phone number, the man who answered said he knew nothing about it. I remembered my step-father finding a wallet with a lot of cash in the 1980's. He took it to the police station so off I went to the local PD. They took a report, and the wallet, and the cop gave me a high five for turning it in. Two days later the PD called and said they had returned the wallet to its owner and the owner had left a reward. I went to the PD again the next day and $70 was waiting for me. Such a thing has never happened to me before and likely won't again. It felt good doing the right thing because yes, I did consider keeping it but couldn't.
