I recently acquired a bag of coins including some junk silver. One of the coins is a circulated Morgan. I'm not looking for grades on this one - just wondering whether it's authentic. The metal and weight feel right (I don't have a precision scale), but the rim damage makes me wonder if it's cast or just banged up. I would appreciate some educated opinons. Here are some pics:

The coin appears to be genuine as the reverse design is correct for a 21 with large stars, parallel top arrow feather and flat breast feathers. Check the weight and do a magnet test. If the coin is silver you are good as there is not much upside for counterfeiters doing the 21 in 90% silver.

Looks real but with the rim damage, I would leave in melt bag. Otherwise, 58 slider?

That's what my doctor said about my liver!

Thanks everyone for all the input - the rim damage had me second-guess the coin's authenticity, but now I feel good about it. I keep a box of circulated coins on my desk, just stuff that I can handle without worrying about damaging the coin, and this will make a nice addition to the pile!
