Thought this was pretty cool. Searched over 1000 1950's wheats so far and this is by far the biggest die break I've found in the date (at least I believe it's a die break).

Neat find! I'm not sure whether to call it a die chip or a broken post, but someone might come through with that answer. Nice find!

That is definitely more than a "broken post." I don't recall seeing a die chip that large on the 9 before. I think it is still a "chip" and not a "break" because of the size. I like it, though!

I'm thinking a large die chip at this point. None of the Lincoln Cents have a closed 6 or 9 on their dates.

It appears to me to be a large die chip. If the die cracked at the dotted line ( Red Arrow ), and that portion broke free, I think the results would be exactly like the OP first photo.
