if you look closely on the reverse under the o by the flame theres extra metal.

@n2lr, it is really hard to see what is going on due to the odd surface texture and pretty heavy wear. I see the area that you are describing, but other than just the surface damage, I don't see anything special about this dime.

All of that was caused by heavy Post Strike Damage ( PSD). This one is a spender.
