Does Anyone Know Of An App?

Mine is simple, so I just use a spreadsheet program. Other members should be along with suggestions of dedicated software.

I don't know of an app, but I use Numista to catalog all my coins. When I'm at a shop or a show I have my phone's browser set to Numista and look up if I have it or not. Another tab is open to NGC's world coin price guide. And I also have a notes app that I put prices in for a few series of coins that I am going for. I like not having to carry a lot of books and pieces of paper around when I'm shopping. It keeps me focused on the coins. The main drawback is it depends on having signal.

I've been using Google Sheets. Edit only on my desktop/laptop where the screen is big enough and I have a full keyboard; reasonably viewable on my phone while I'm at a show or a shop.

Thanks guys. Surprising there isn't an app but it wouldn't be much different than a spreadsheet I suppose. Maybe I can submit an idea to one of those app idea places

I keep my inventory on a spreadsheet but I extract a copy of my "want list" to Evernote. With that and cloud sync, I can get it on any device (phone, tablet) that I have with me. It is still a manual system.

I haven't seen any collecting software that has a decent inventory function, a decent "want list" function and a cloud sync so you can use it at home or on your phone. The unicorn app would also include trends updates and other countries... US, Canada, UK, France, Australia etc.

I tried a few of the coin apps, but found them a bit too "clunky" and "overkill" for my purposes as a relatively small collector.

I ended-up making a very nice spreadsheet in MS Excel that contains all my coins and has all the data I want to track. I then just use "autofilters" to focus on specific collections I am working on. I print them out before I go to a show by each collection showing what I "have" an what I "need". I have made tons of "tweaks" to it over the past few years, and like the simplicity and ability to change things as I want.

I also "Export" my spreadsheet after I make updates to a Google Sheet and then can access it on my iPhone or from any computer connected to the internet when I am not at my "home computer" that has Excel installed on it.

Some of the "apps" have a lot more power (ability to store images, updates to current price list estimates), but I didn't find this necessary for my purposes, and I found entering data in these apps more work then it was worth.

The only thing that is worth it is getting a spreadsheet first of all the coins in the "set" you want to collect as a starting point. I actually was able, after a bit of formatting magic, to download data from the PCGS Coin Lists and use it to populate the coin series I was interested in into my spreadsheet. Took a bit of work, but saved a huge amount of time vs. manual data entry.

I also use the Coinfacts and PCGS Coin price iPhone apps while at the shows, which I found extremely helpful.

Highly personalized spreadsheet here too. The flexibility is just too compelling a reason for me to switch to anything else.

@einstem - that thread was a good re-read. I like that ExactChange is (or was at the time) written in Pascal. Pascal even predates me but I loved Turbo Pascal back in the 80's!
