I'm trying to fill my Whitman album with bu wheat cents, how can I get the older one in better condition? I don't want my modern coins to be red, then just transition into brown the older it gets. I know I can buy each one individually online, but they tend to be 5 dollars each. Any way to get Bu 1930's and before for less?

No, not really. You have to pay what they're worth unless you happen upon a sucker with the goods. Don't count on that, though.

As the old saying goes , You get what you pay for . All of the early wheat cents in BU are valued and cost between at a lot of $ to outrageous prices . Try the bay but scrutinize their photos like an eye of an Eagle .

Early BU wheat cents won't be cheap. I would keep an eye out on ebay, but as T-BOP said , scrutinize the photos very carefully.

That's a very conscientious objective. Keep us posted on your progression.

Which ones between 1909 and 1930 tend to be 5 dollars each in BU condition? I want one of those.

I'm currently upgrading my 1909-1940 Whitman. I want red whenever I can get them. My red BU's start at 1934 through 1940-S, that's it. All the rest (1909-1933-D) are all brown.

I think OP needs a few thick wallets if he wants everything in RED.

BU pre 1930's for $5 would be VERY cheap. Lowest price I see is $20 for RB pieces.

Unless you find someone with a lot, and you offer a deal for all you may save a few dollars.

How about a 14D for about $5. Good luck trying to find any of those today. Best thing is to find a coin show in your area. Might find lots of those but not for cheap.

There are some companies in China that could help you get them.
