I just got my new Charlton book and was looking through it to see if any of my coins were special.
I found an 1872-H 50 cent with repunched 2 in the date and repunched A in REGINA. Both these are already identified. But when I started looking at CANADA I noted that the D is also repunched. This variety is not noted in the book.
The person who wrote the 50 cent variety section for Charlton (pg in rh)frequents this forum, so he may chime in. Whenever a variety section is submitted to Charlton from the research collector or group, only a relatively small percentage of varieties actually are published, because of book/page space. We had to pare down the Vicky large cent section appreciably.
Thanks for the boost Okiecoiner, but my my collection (and pocketbook) do not encompass anything before 1937. Cannot help. The many hundred George VI 50c varieties keep me busy.
