I see the letters are fat and rounded and some seem to have a split at the ends and a couple have a crease in the middle. Are these the evidence? I am trying to learn.
Yes you are correct about the evidence. Those are the signs you should look for in a doubled die. Some doubled dies appear other places than the lettering, such as the bust of a coin, or whatever is displayed in the center.
Did you look at Wexler's 1982 WDDO-004? The reverse images are too close to see what is going on. The devices on the reverse look like spread, but nothing is enlarged. But take a look at the WDDO-004: http://doubleddie.com/828781.html
