Ok, I'm new on here and just got into coins. Please help me with these 1982 D rare ones bc I believe I have a small rare one. My buddies scale is about or around .1g heavy (he told me) but I'm going to get another scale tomorrow to find out for sure. This was my first weigh for all of my 1982 D mint pennies. Any info on all these coins I'm going to post up would be great. Thanks guys

Checking the next 1982D...I'm only posting ones that are 3.1g. If I need to verify with another scale I will but I'm not posting this stuff and trying to waste anyone's like by false information. Here's the next one.

to CCF and the hobby. zinc cents should weigh 2.5 grams, "copper" cents should weigh 3.1 grams. The large date '82D comes in both types. The '82D small date was only minted on zinc planchets. I could not tell from your phnoto which you have (large or small). Perhaps someone with younger eyes could help there.

I'm editing the photo to post all 10 of the 1982 pennies , 7 of which are D mint ones and weigh in at 3.1g. The other 3 are a 1982 no mark in the top right and the bottom 2 which are less weight (2.5g)...anyway, check these and please give any and all information possible. Thanks guys!

Most look large. The two on the bottom may be small but I can't tell for certain without better pics.

The 1982-D small date copper (3.1g) is the rare one. Yours is a large date, so you don't have it.
Keep looking! A second one was just found, so they're out there!

CoinRookie18, looking at the '2' is the easiest way to tell on these. The '2' on the small dates have a curvature and are noticeably thinner. The large dates are a thicker font and the '2' looks more like a 'Z'
There are some good comparison pics if you search this forum or google. Takes a little practice but soon the difference will seem like night and day.

Ok, I'll be posting up the other 1982 d pennies shortly. Out f curiosity, what is the best and easiest way to post up my whole collection of coins so that the people on here that are highly knowledgeable can actually see what I have and be able to tell me values, etc? I'll also add in that I have some pennies as well as other coins that str 40 to 70 years old that are in flawless condition...and mpre than 100 or so of dye impurities or differences in the color make up of the coin...I'll post some examples to better explain what I mean.

The best advise I can give at this point is educate your self. Achilles told you how to tell the difference between a large and small date. Instead of posting all the '82s try posting only those you think are small dates. Keep this thread on the '82s and start a new post for other issues.
