Box of LC's ran dry so decided to look at some silver I have. Ran across this one. The notching stops after the "E". I think the ear is MD ? Are DDO's common on these ? I usually stick to LC's so my knowledge is very limited on other coins. Thanks for your help.
I think you do have a Doubled Die Obverse.CONECA listed 64D DDO-004. Your half dollar is a LDS, but when I was looking at the notching in your photos I noticed the die scratches around the I in LIBERTY matched the die scratches on the DDO-004 in my collection, see attached photo. A very easy way to confirm this as the DDO-004 is if you see the doubling on the hair around the R in LIBERTY, or the DDO-004 listed marker.die scratch from right leg to 2nd wing feather, see attached photos. What you see on the ear is MDD (Machine Damage Doubling). http://varietyvista.com/Variety%20M....htm#_1964-D Larry Nienaber
Thank you atrox001. Appears it is indeed the CONECA listed 64D DDO-004. All the markers match. Thanks everybody for your input. Edit..Guess it's pretty obvious I'm an amateur at Kennedy's. I didn't even know where the mint-mark was.
