Without a doubt the least "Gorgeous George" I've ever owned, this 1827-dated one-penny Irish token is the only example of its type ever recorded. I'm posting it here to share the unusually unattractive effigy of George III. The upside is that it nonetheless managed to bring £500 at auction last week. Complete story here.Ireland, Not Local, One Penny Token, deceptively dated 1827. Withers 1946, 34mm, 14.5g, RRR.
