Perhaps this coin has been in circulation continuously (cash registers, bank vaults, coin jars, etc.) since being released in 1909, and just by slim chance was never recognized and plucked out by a collector. This could make a neat local news story if you want

I would expect a lot more wear from 110 years.

Sorry to keep this going, but could we see a true close-up of just the VDB area?

Read this entire thread - it would indeed be an amazing circulation find if genuine.

Hopeful that the OP can somehow gain this validation - our experts are the best and TPG is a 2nd level consideration.

If real, I would gladly take it even with a scratch!

Still not definitive. The dip in the center bar of the letter B is not clear. Can this be sharpened?

I know you guys hate me, but the odds here are (literally) billions and billions to one. I want to be sure.

I don't think the OP has capability of better pics (what do you want from an apple phone?), but has sent coin off to TPG.

It sure seems to check all the boxes, and I can't tell if the scratch is really severe enough to preclude its receiving a straight grade.

Outstanding (probably once in a lifetime) find!

Yeah, I agree, it seems good but can't quite see it to be 100% sure.
