Quote: The viking ship on the Norwegian 100 kroner is the Gokstad ship, found in my hometown Sandefjord in the late 1800s. It is in the Viking ship museum in Oslo, with two other viking ships. If you are in Oslo, I recommend that you visit the museum. Definitely on my bucket list.

The Korean Turtle ship also appeared on some of their coins...they played a major roll in the Korean victory over the Japanese in the 16th century.

Thanks Kopper Ken, never knew about that. Had a wee google & it seems the turtle ship is recognised as one of the 1st forms of armoured warship. The Royal Korean Navy used them up until the 19th Century. Learn something new every day as they say.
