@CelticKnot, the 'Saddam series' date from 1990 - 2002 although there is one banknote from around 1986 showing him in a military uniform. After the 1991 Gulf War, sanctions were imposed & Iraq banknotes were printed usually in China on poor quality paper, various shades of colour, some with no serial number, no real security features. Many arabic notes also have english script on them, Lebanon have a beautiful series I really like. I only have 2 "Saddams" just bought for novelty value tbh, they're cheap & widely available. Here's two Iraqi 1/4 dinars one from 1979 and the other from 1993, big difference in quality. The 79' note has a nice arabian horse as watermark.

25 Ekuele, Equatorial Guinea. President Masie Nguema During Macías Nguema's government, the country had neither a development plan nor an accounting system for government funds. After the killing of the governor of the Central Bank, he carried everything that remained in the national treasury to his house in a rural village. On Christmas Eve of 1969 about 150 of his opponents were killed. Soldiers executed them by shooting at the football stadium in Malabo, while amplifiers were playing Mary Hopkin's song "Those Were the Days." Macías Nguema's government forced tens of thousands of citizens to flee in fear of persecution and to protect their personal safety. Intellectuals and skilled professionals were a particular target. By the end of his rule, nearly all of the country's educated class was either executed or forced into exile—a brain drain from which the country has never recovered. (Source: Wikipedia).

@ScotsGreyhound, here is the Saddam note from 1986 that you mentioned 0n 04/13. @CelticKnot, on this note the year is on the lower right front of the note. Unfortunately, I can't copy the numbers in the arabic script here. Using google, you can see that this is the year 1986 in the Gregorian calendar and 1406 in the Islamic calander.

His ideology was to unite all the cultures in the region & unify under the one thing they all share, being Sudanese. He died in a helicopter crash in 2005.
