Hi and thanks for letting me join forum. I think I have posted my introduction in the wrong place initially so apologies for that!! I have just been give this coin and was after a little advise as to validity / value / history etc. Any advice would be most welcome - apologies if this isn't the right place to be asking this !

Hard to say.

It's surprising it isn't proof since it's only a recent mint(06 or 07 I believe). Do you know why it got in the condition it's in?

What you have is not a coin, it is a medallion.
It was issued in 2007 and is worth $15.00 - $25.00.
It is a brass retro proof of coins issued in the early 1800's.
