Coin Noob Valued Member Canada 103 Posts	Posted 04/25/2019 7:21 pm I have an 1870 25 cent coin, showing two wildly different prices from this link. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...ts-1870-1901 How do I tell if it is obverse 1 or 2? However the truth is I do not want this to become yet another hobby. I am doing my best to invest as little dollars in it as possible, so that selling it may actually net a few dollars. I am not trying to be rude at all... Your answer is perfectly satisfactory to me, and gives me an idea that the coin might be worth $35 somewhere, and not just 25 cents at the bank. Talonbat Valued Member Canada 395 Posts	Posted 04/25/2019 8:49 pm You can pick up a slightly older Charlton for maybe $5-10 so it's not a big investment. Just remember $35 is a just a book value and the actual market value can and usually is much much lower except for key dates. Also just remember just because someone writes VG on the 2x2 does not mean it is VG. This one does however look like it is a VG coin. I would definitely take his (or the dude he chose to buy them from)'s opinion over my noob estimation. I think he bought them with such grades from dealers and coin shows.
